Greetings Prospective Special Educators!
Welcome to the WEB page of our Special Education Teaching Department.
Yeditepe University is extremely excited to be offering the FIRST Special Education Teaching Program in Turkey that will be taught in the English language. We accepted our first group of students to our 4-year Undergraduate Program in the Fall semester of 2019-2020 school year. Our academic team comprised of expert educators who have a wide range of experiences in both the academia and the field nationally and internationally.
The ultimate aim of our program is to provide our communities with special education teachers who are not only extremely qualified, but are also creative and dynamic in their teaching approach. With the knowledge and skills gained, our graduates will be able to identify individual student needs through the use of a holistic approach, and prepare and implement appropriate İndividual Education Plans by incorporation science based methods and Assistive Technologies. In addıtıon our program will prepare our graduates to solve problems utilizing critical thinking as well as effectively communicate and collaborate with both parents and others involved in the special education process.
As an important member of our dynamic learning community that has come together with a shared passion for learning and growth, you will engage in active and critical learning, reading and discussion as well as inquiry and research opportunities.
As a qualified graduate of our program, your will play an important role in providing appropriate and effective services to individuals in need of special education in Turkey. Receiving the education, support and assistance that are crutial for ALL to live as independent, productive and self-sufficient individuals in a society is one of the main principles of human rights. These rights will only be possible by providing equal and fair opportunities to all members of a society and by the societal development and legal change that you will take an active role in.
