PROGRAM INFORMATION

 

Establishment: Special Education Department was established in 2019.

 

Objective: The number of individuals in need of special education in Turkey constitutes approximately 13% of the total population. Therefore, the aim of this program is to train teachers who are equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to ensure that individuals in need of special education are independent, active and productive in social life. The program aims to ensure the continuity of this effectiveness and continuity in cooperation with various institutions after providing the education of the required number and quality of teachers in private and MoNE affiliated schools in our country.

 

The Special Education Program aims to produce and implement academic knowledge in the field of education of individuals in need of special education and to train special education teachers.

 

Qualification Awarded: Graduates who have successfully completed all the requirements of the program receive the Lisans Bachelor's Degree in Special Education Teaching ”.

 

Level of Qualification: First Cycle

 

Qualification Requirements and Regulations: Successful completion of all courses in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS in total) and having a weighted GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 is the required qualification requirement for graduation.

 

Admission and Admission Requirements: Student admission to the program is explained in detail under the title of “Student Admission ünde in the section Hakkında About Yeditepe University”.

Rules for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, in-formal, non-formal)

Recognition of previous formal (formal) learning in Turkish higher education institutions vertical, horizontal and within the university Chechens within the university determined by the Council of Higher Education "TRANSLATION BETWEEN PRE-LICENSE AND LICENSE LEVEL PROGRAMS, DOUBLE MAJOR, SIDE BRANCH WITH CORPORATE LOANS TRANSFER Regulation ". based on non-formal certification outside formal educational institutions in Turkey or based on experience (in-formal and non-formal) recognition of the learning process it is at an early stage. Therefore, recognition of prior learning is not fully initiated in all programs of Yeditepe University.

 

Profile of the Program: Graduates of special education teacher program are appointed as Special Education Teachers to public and private education institutions affiliated to Ministry of National Education with the title of "Special Education Teacher". In addition, our graduates can work in sectors such as special education and rehabilitation centers, consultancy centers, workplaces developing educational materials and academic staff of universities.

 

Occupational Profiles of Graduates (with examples): Graduates of the program can work as a special education teacher mostly in primary, secondary and higher education institutions, other rehabilitation centers and industrial institutions / organizations.

 

Access to Further Studies: Candidates who have successfully completed the undergraduate program can take graduate programs in their fields or related fields provided that they have a valid score from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English language.

 

Examinations, Assessment and Evaluation: The types of examinations and assessment and assessment methods for each course in the program are defined in detail in the Öğretim Course Teaching Plan ”.

Departmental Facilities: There are two doctors and one research assistant in the Special Education Teaching Program. Yeditepe University Faculty of Education has three computer laboratories, three application laboratories and one smart classroom.

1 Have knowledge about disability groups in special education field and have information about individual, educational and social effects of disability.  
2 It takes an active role in raising awareness of the society and making a difference about the legal rights and needs of individuals in need of special education.  
3 Knows and uses appropriate teaching strategies and methods in subjects such as mathematics, science and social studies in primary and secondary education programs.  
4 It cooperates effectively with school / institution staff, experts, families and individuals in the community in order to ensure that the students gain the highest level during the special education process.  
5 Develops and implements Individualized Family Service Program (BAHP), Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Individualized Transition Plans (IEP), which are prepared by considering the needs of individuals and MONE curricula within the framework of special education laws.  
6 Knows and applies scientifically based approaches and methods in order to attain the achievements stated in the direction of IEP targets at the highest level and to ensure accessibility to MEB curriculum.  
7 Knows, develops and adapts to the individual needs of educational materials, current technology and other resources appropriate to the curriculum and IEP objectives.  
8 It organizes, analyzes and interprets evaluation data obtained from various sources and makes and evaluates the educational evaluation of individuals by using various techniques and methods.  
9 Evaluates individuals' learning using appropriate assessment tools and makes educational decisions based on data.  
10 Improves professional knowledge by following national and international developments in the field of special education and contributes to the development of special education field by using scientific research methods.  
11 Knows the basic values ​​and principles on which the Turkish education system is based, its aims, structure and legislation (laws, regulations, circulars, etc.) and the historical development of special education.  
12 Uses technology effectively in designing, implementing and evaluating learning environments and activities.  
13 Creates, manages and maintains culturally integrative learning environments that reflect respect, trust, interest and ethical behavior, value individuals' life experiences and developmental characteristics.
