PROGRAM INFORMATION
Establishment: Special Education Department was established in 2019.
Objective: The number of individuals in need of special education in Turkey constitutes approximately 13% of the total population. Therefore, the aim of this program is to train teachers who are equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to ensure that individuals in need of special education are independent, active and productive in social life. The program aims to ensure the continuity of this effectiveness and continuity in cooperation with various institutions after providing the education of the required number and quality of teachers in private and MoNE affiliated schools in our country.
The Special Education Program aims to produce and implement academic knowledge in the field of education of individuals in need of special education and to train special education teachers.
Qualification Awarded: Graduates who have successfully completed all the requirements of the program receive the Lisans Bachelor's Degree in Special Education Teaching ”.
Level of Qualification: First Cycle
Qualification Requirements and Regulations: Successful completion of all courses in the program (equivalent to 240 ECTS in total) and having a weighted GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 is the required qualification requirement for graduation.
Admission and Admission Requirements: Student admission to the program is explained in detail under the title of “Student Admission ünde in the section Hakkında About Yeditepe University”. Rules for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, in-formal, non-formal) Recognition of previous formal (formal) learning in Turkish higher education institutions vertical, horizontal and within the university Chechens within the university determined by the Council of Higher Education "TRANSLATION BETWEEN PRE-LICENSE AND LICENSE LEVEL PROGRAMS, DOUBLE MAJOR, SIDE BRANCH WITH CORPORATE LOANS TRANSFER Regulation ". based on non-formal certification outside formal educational institutions in Turkey or based on experience (in-formal and non-formal) recognition of the learning process it is at an early stage. Therefore, recognition of prior learning is not fully initiated in all programs of Yeditepe University.
Profile of the Program: Graduates of special education teacher program are appointed as Special Education Teachers to public and private education institutions affiliated to Ministry of National Education with the title of "Special Education Teacher". In addition, our graduates can work in sectors such as special education and rehabilitation centers, consultancy centers, workplaces developing educational materials and academic staff of universities.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates (with examples): Graduates of the program can work as a special education teacher mostly in primary, secondary and higher education institutions, other rehabilitation centers and industrial institutions / organizations.
Access to Further Studies: Candidates who have successfully completed the undergraduate program can take graduate programs in their fields or related fields provided that they have a valid score from ALES and have sufficient knowledge of English language.

Departmental Facilities: There are two doctors and one research assistant in the Special Education Teaching Program. Yeditepe University Faculty of Education has three computer laboratories, three application laboratories and one smart classroom.
