Course Objectives: 
The aim of this course is to select, adapt, and evaluate course content and materials in English language teaching
Course Content: 
This course aims to equip students with the fundamental theories and principles of selection, adaptation, development and evaluation of course content and materials in English language teaching. The students learn the advantages and disadvantages of using textbooks; and do internal and external evaluation to see how the content reflects the methodological and ideological claims made by the author. They will evaluate the content in terms of its format, teachibility, proficiency-level appropriateness, usability, potential to encourage communication and interaction among learners and teacher, cultural sensitivity, and comprehensibility and authenticity of language and tasks. The students will also adapt and develop age-appropriate materials based on learners’ needs and environmental factors considering the recent approaches of language teaching.
