The department, which was opened within the Faculty of Education, offers an enriched curriculum to prospective teachers who will receive education in the department, with the awareness that early childhood is the period when the cognitive, linguistic, social-emotional, motor and self-care development of the individual occurs in the fastest and most critical way. The curriculum focuses on areas such as play-based learning, early intervention, family education, environmental and nature awareness and includes courses such as “Art and Music Education in Early Childhood”, “Science and Mathematics Teaching”, “Family Engagement”, “Classroom Management and Special Education”. In addition, the program also includes Information Technologies and Academic English courses that develop students' academic and digital skills.

Our department is newly opened. It will take its first students this year.

Yeditepe University Department of Preschool Teaching aims to train well-rounded and internationally equipped teachers who adopt contemporary educational approaches. One of the most remarkable features of the department is that it offers its students the opportunity to obtain the internationally recognized IB (International Baccalaureate) PYP (Primary Years Programme) certificate. Thanks to this certificate, students gain a significant advantage in teaching in international schools and institutions that implement the IB program. Being exposed to the content of this program throughout the education process transforms graduates into individuals who can make a difference on a global scale.
The IB PYP certificate is not just a document; it is an indicator of a comprehensive formation that includes 21st century educational skills such as critical thinking, multiple intelligence theories, student-centered approach and inquiry-based teaching. A pre-school teacher who graduates from Yeditepe University with this certificate can direct his/her career as a well-equipped, innovative and sought-after educator both in Turkey and abroad. In addition, the university's strong academic staff, practical courses, contemporary campus environment, and opportunities such as double major and minor programs support students' personal and professional development
Students also have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real classroom environments through collaborations with various institutions, especially schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and İSTEK Foundation Schools. Especially within the scope of the Teaching Practicum I-II courses spread over the 4th year, prospective teachers actively participate in all stages of the teaching process in the pre-graduation period, which deepens their professional experience and enables them to graduate as competent individuals ready for preschool education.
Studying in this department is not just a diploma; it is also a journey that gives vision, teaches to connect with different disciplines and raises professionals who will support the development of children at the highest level. Yeditepe University offers an ideal learning and development environment for individuals with this vision.

Graduates of Yeditepe University Department of Preschool Teaching can work as preschool teachers in public and private preschool education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, private nurseries, day care centers, municipal children's units and child development centers. Graduates, who gain a strong practical experience along with the theoretical background, become professionals sought after in various institutions as qualified educators who support children's developmental areas.
A wide range of opportunities are also offered for graduates who aim for an academic career. Students who complete their graduate studies can advance in the academic field as research assistants, lecturers or faculty members at universities. In addition, graduates can continue their careers in a versatile way by specializing in areas such as early childhood material design, publishing, family education, consultancy services and pedagogical entrepreneurship.
Yeditepe graduates assume active and effective roles not only in the classroom but also in many different sectors that shape early childhood education, thanks to their contemporary educational approach and international perspective.
