The present book entitled “Research on Foreign Language Teacher Education in Turkey: In honor of Prof. Ayşe S. AKYEL” was a surprise project, planned and led by one of her former students, Dr. Sönmez and welcomed by the contributors who were her MA and/or PhD students both at Boğaziçi University and Yeditepe University over the years and who are currently working as assistant/associate/and full professors, in universities both in and out of country. The plan was to publish it to celebrate the 41st year of her career starting with her application and acceptance to the PhD program in the field. In this way, they wanted the book to express their appreciation of her valuable support to their post graduate education and contributions to the field of language teacher education. The book includes her students’ recent research articles addressing current issues in the field as well as memories of some of the contributors. We wish that she will go on contributing to the field for many years.
