John C. Carey
Professor Emeritus

"Evidence-based Programs and Implications for Universities"
Dr. Carey has expertise in the development and evaluation of interventions to promote self-direction and engagement of children and youths. He recently served as the Co-PI directing the evaluation component of a large IES-funded cluster randomized trial of the impact of Student Success Skills on students’ school engagement, metacognitive skill development and academic achievement. He is the co-developer of Eccomi Pronto, an early elementary school program to increase students’ self determination skills and school engagement and of the Protective Factors Index, an assessment system that uses teacher ratings to measure students’ social-emotional development. Dr. Carey is very active internationally. He has been a Fulbright Specialist at Christ University (Bangalore) and Korea University (Seoul) where he assisted counseling programs to develop an orientation towards evidence-based practice. In addition, Dr. Carey has recently edited the International Handbook for Policy Research on School-Based Counseling. He is currently leading a 12-nation comparative study of the activities of school-based counselors. Finally, Dr. Carey has extensive experience in program and grant management having served as an Associate Dean, Department Chair, Program Coordinator, Center Director, and Principal Investigator over the past 28 years.
Aslı Uz Baş
Professor
"Psychological Resilience in the Context of School Counseling"
Dr. Uz Baş completed her undergraduate education at Hacettepe University Psychological Counseling and Guidance Program, and her master's and doctoral education at Dokuz Eylül University Psychological Counseling and Guidance Program. She is currently working as a full-time faculty member in Dokuz Eylül University Psychological Counseling and Guidance program and is the Deputy Director of Dokuz Eylül University Guidance and Psychological Counseling Application and Research Center. She has completed theoretical and skills training in the field of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), basic training in Positive Psychotherapy, theory, supervision, and advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), theoretical training in Compassion Focused Therapy, and also has the title of "Mindfulness Trainer". Her main research interests include counselor training, school counseling, positive psychology, third wave CBT approaches. In addition to more than ten books, book chapters, book translations and translation editors in the field of Psychological Counseling and Guidance, she has more than fifty scientific articles published in national and international scientific journals related to her research areas. She is married and has a daughter.
Ragıp Özyürek
Professor
"School Counselors’ Accreditation Initiatives in Turkey"
Dr. Özyürek was born in Ankara in 1964 and graduated from Hacettepe University Counselor Education Sub-department in 1986. He completed his graduate studies at the same university in 1989. He completed his doctorate at Çukurova University in 1995. Dr. Özyürek worked as a research assistant and lecturer at Çukurova University since 1987, and as an assistant professor between 1995-2005. Özyürek passed the exam for associate professorship in the field of counselor education in 2005, and was appointed as a professor at Ege University in 2011. He worked as a guest lecturer in the Netherlands for a short time in 1997 to make a study trip, in the United States of America, in the Department of Counselor Education at the University of Florida for 6 months in 1999, and for 3 months in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology at Indiana University. He made a short visit in 2011 to give lessons to Turkish students studying social pedagogy at the 'Fachhoschule Düsseldorf' in Germany. Dr. Özyürek was a guesın University and Istanbul Medipol University. He is still a faculty member at Istanbul Aydın University. Dr. Özyürek was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Adana Branch of the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association between 2008-2009, and of the Izmir Branch between 2014-2015. Starting from 2021, he started to act as the founding chairman of the Accreditation Supreme Board of the Psychological Counseling and Guidance Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Unit of the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association. He has been the editor of the School Counselor e-Bulletin since 2013, and the first co-editor of the Journal of School Counseling since 2018. His fields of study are counselor training and supervision, career counseling, school counseling and statistics related to counseling. He has publications on the examination of vocational interests of middle school, high school and university students, the improvement of mathematics competencies, and school counseling practices. Özyürek is married and has two children.
Mike Trevisan

"ISPRESC - Overview Of The International Society For Policy Research And Evaluation For School-Based Counseling"
Dr. Trevisan is working on the use of program evaluation for the betterment of schools and communities. Much of this work is focused on building the professional capacity of school personnel to carry out evaluation work. Dr. Trevisan has provided workshops and seminars on various evaluation topics to graduate students and faculty in Canada, Greece, India, Italy, Korea, and Thailand. Dr. Trevisan is a founding member of the International Society of Policy Research and Evaluation in School-based Counseling (ISPRESC), an international coalition of faculty, deans, policy makers, and practitioners, promoting school-based counseling as a policy mechanism to support K-12 students and teachers in countries around the world. In 2020, Dr. Trevisan was elected as chair-elect of ISPRESC and is currently serving serving a 3-year term in this role, after which he will serve as chair.

Please read the information below to register for the conference.
The conference will be conducted in English. All presentations, abstracts, and full papers must be in English.
The abstract should not exceed 500 words and must include the title, 3-5 keywords, aims/objectives, main perspective or theoretical/conceptual framework, methods, research design, mode of inquiry, data sources or evidence, and results and/or conclusions. It should also highlight the significance of the research to the field of school-based counseling.
Please submit two separate files for abstracts: one containing only the abstract, and the other including the abstract, your name, email address, and institutional affiliation.
Conference Abstracts and Proceedings Book:
All accepted abstracts will be published in this book, which will have its own ISBN.
You are also encouraged to submit your full paper. These papers undergo a double-blind review process. Upon acceptance, they will be published electronically, also with an ISBN.
