Course Objectives: 
To ensure that the psychological counselor candidates obtain information about the disease psychology and behavioral patterns, establishing an accurate and effective communication with patients and their relatives, to contribute to the physical and mental well-being of the patients and their relatives, to ensure the adaptation of the patient and relatives to the illness process and to gain knowledge and skills about the principles of psychological support.
Course Content: 

Psychology of the patient and his/her caregivers, reactions to illness; psychological support in cases of trauma, disaster, accident, violence, abuse, chronic diseases, psychological diseases, patients in need of social service; behavior seen in patients and their caregivers; principles of psychological approach and effective communication; the aim and benefits of psychological support to the patient and patient’s caregivers; skills to cope with stress and anxiety; intervention and support; topics of group therapy and individual psychotherapy in this process.
