Course Objectives: 
This course deals with teaching and learning processes of mother tongue and literature in the light of contemporary learning and teaching theories together with the activity areas of mother tongue and literature in an interrelated manner. That new points of views move children forward by placing them in the center of the learning process, which means in other words tending to children makes teachers fulfill new responsibilities and duties. Transparent teaching methods placing children in the center of the learning not only requires new and different knowledge from teachers, but also mandates teachers to have skills in this direction. The course mainly focuses on actualization of language teaching in learning situations, actualization of language teaching with the aid of activities, and meaningful content of any materials in teaching language, which are regarded as the basic principles of teaching-learning process. Additionally, it covers other fundamental contemporary approaches in teaching mother tongue/literature. Reading, writing, listening, speaking, and language analysis included in the activity areas of mother tongue/literature are discussed in accordance with the curricula of Language Expression and Literature Education.
